Robert G. Barnes (Bobby)
Robert G. Barnes, affectionately known as Bobby, passed away on Thursday, October 24, 2024, in Yale, VA, with his family by his side. He was born on March 14, 1950, in Greensville County, VA, to Vannie Lee Barnes and Mary Maitland Barnes.
Bobby was married to the late Mary Brooks Barnes. He grew up in Jarratt, VA, later moving to Petersburg, VA. He worked as a heating and air subcontractor, crafting his own ductwork with skill and dedication.
He had a passion for gardening, growing wonderful vegetable gardens for his family to enjoy, and he also loved picking wild blackberries. As he loved the outdoors, Bobby enjoyed hunting, spending time in nature, and watching his favorite westerns.
Bobby is survived by his daughter, Paula Barnes McClung, and his son-in-law, Timmy McClung Jr., whom he thought a lot of. He is also survived by his stepchildren, Linda Wolosuk, Fred Glenn, and the late Norman Lewis.
Bobby’s siblings are Virginia Phillips (David), Larry Barnes, and the late Elsie Cunningham and William Barnes.
He leaves behind grandchildren Tripp, Emma, Mary McClung, and Brooke Bass (Jared), along with great-grandchildren Dawson and Rhett Bass. He also had step-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, October 28, 2024, starting at 2:30pm at 18204 Hilda Road, Yale, VA 23897.
