Stuart Craig Jarratt, 56, of Emporia, VA passed away, Friday, March 22, 2024.
Craig was born August 13, 1967, in Roanoke Rapids, NC. He was a standout athlete throughout his life, playing football, basketball, and baseball garnering many accolades during this time. He was a graduate of Greensville County High School and continued his education at Louisburg College where he played baseball. He began his law enforcement career with the City of Emporia Police Department and then the Greensville County Sheriff’s Office. He went on to become the youngest Chief of Police in Gaston, NC at the age of 25. Most will remember his expert service of car detailing, which he continued until a stroke in 2017 that left him paralyzed at the age of 49. After his stroke, Craig continued to recover and lived independently, until an illness in 2022 left him hospitalized until his death.
Craig is preceded in death by his father, William Thomas “Tommy” Jarratt Sr., and mother, Anna S. Jarratt.
He is survived by his loving children, Brooklyn J. Baylor (Trevin) of Urbanna, Kayla J. Ferguson (Dazmon), Austin C. Jarratt (Victoria), and Allie Jarratt, all of Emporia; brother, William Thomas “Timmy” Jarratt Jr. (Lori); sister, Trista Clements (Robert) both of Emporia; four grandchildren; Lailah and Rilee Baylor, of Urbanna, and Dakota and Daxton Ferguson, of Emporia; as well as nieces and nephews that will miss him dearly.
A graveside service will be held at Greensville Memorial Cemetery at 1PM on Wednesday, March 27, 2024. After the service, family and friends are welcomed at The Cabin (also known as Cato Hill Hunt Club), 1650 Grassy Pond Rd, Emporia, Va. 23847.
