Sharon Kaye Jenkins Acree, age 63, of Jarratt, VA., passed away peacefully in her home, Tuesday, February 24, 2026.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents Thurston and Mary Faris and Andrew “Jack” and Willie Jenkins along with her step-father James “Jimmie” Phelps. Sharon is survived by her husband Bruce Acree of 44 years, her mother Peggy Faris Phelps; two sons Andrew Acree and wife (Nicole) and Christopher Scott Acree and fiancé (Lilia). She leaves behind her beloved pet companion, Zoey.
Sharon always wanted to be a nurse. She graduated from Petersburg School of Nursing in 1987 and Richard Bland College with a associates degree in science. She devoted her working career in nursing successfully for 32 years.

The family will receive friends for visitation on Saturday, February 28, 2026 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm followed by a Celebration of Life at 2:00 pm. Both will be held at Echols Funeral Home, 806 Brunswick Ave., Emporia, VA. 23847. In lieu of flowers,
memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
