Obituary for Odell Wrenn Ferguson
Odell Wrenn Ferguson went to her eternal rest and to join her late husband, C. Wade Ferguson of Greensville County, Emporia, VA on March 21, 2013. She was raised in Greensville County among a large family of sisters and brothers, the children of Joseph B. and Annie Pearl Wrenn, who have all predeceased her. She was the mother of Patricia Ferguson Mitchell and her husband, Julian B. Mitchell, both deceased of Courtland, Va. Her son, Stephen W. Ferguson and his wife, Patsy Saffelle Ferguson live in Emporia. “Mom” as she is lovingly remembered had five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. The grandchildren include, Carole Ferguson Johnson (Richard) of Wilmington, NC, Hope Wrenn Mitchell of Kenbridge, Stephen W. Ferguson, Jr. (deceased) formerly of Emporia, John Banister Mitchell (Sarah) of Surrey, and Julia Mitchell Owens (Rhett) of Courtland. Odell was a devoted mother, model homemaker and beloved grandmother. She lived a long and happy life with a large family and many friends. She was involved in the work of her church, Forest Hill Baptist Church near Brink, VA and was active locally with the Greensville County Extension Homemakers and served as president of the Emporia Woman’s Club. A visitation will be held on Friday, 7-8:30, in Echols Funeral Home Chapel. A graveside service will be held 11am, Saturday at Forest Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
