Obituary for Michael Wayne Mitchell
In Loving Memory of a Beloved Father
It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Michael Wayne Mitchell of Emporia Virginia and Poquoson Virginia
on July 3, 2025, at the age of 82.
He was a loving husband, a good father, a grandfather, a step-great grandfather and a wonderful friend to all who knew him.
Mike was known for his kindness, dedication, and love.
His giving heart made a lasting impact on those around him.
Michael was a United States Air Force Veteran, serving from 1965 to 1969. He was stationed in Thailand from 1967 to 1968 as a radio communications and maintenance specialist during the Vietnam War.
He is preceded in death by his dedicated and loving wife Rosalee Sue Franklin Mitchell, his parents Byron Mitchell and Mildred Mitchell.
He is survived by his three children Doug Mitchell and his wife Debbie, Bethany Mitchell, Darren Mitchell and his wife Jonalyn.
His grandchildren are Timothy Garris, Alyson Mitchell, Rebecca Mitchell, Bryan Mitchell, Jayden Mitchell, and step-grandchild Brittany Higginbotham, as well as three step-great grandchildren.
A memorial service to commemorate the life of Mike will be conducted on July 12, 2025, at 2pm located at Spring United Methodist Church in Skippers, VA.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in his memory to Tim Tebow Foundation.
