Obituary for Maxine Phillips Braswell
Maxine Phillips Braswell, 81, born April 1, 1931, the daughter of the late Wade Phillips and Daisy Phillips of Greensville County, Virginia, died February 3, 2013 at her home in Emporia after an extended illness. Maxine was a lifetime member of Independence United Methodist Church. She was a long-time employee of Sears and Roebuck and the Virginia Department of Social Services. She was preceded in death by her husband Charlie Braswell, a sister Earline Howerton and a brother Jesse Phillips. She is survived by a sister Odell Ingram, and brothers Clyde and Roy Lee Phillips; two daughters, Ann Matteson of Hendersonville, N.C., and Brenda Williams of Wendell, N.C.; three grandsons, Jason Williams of Raleigh, N.C., Tory Matteson of Broomfield, C.O., and Adam Matteson of Shanghai, China, and a great granddaughter, Charlotte Matteson of Broomfield, C.O. A graveside service will be held 10:00 am on February 5, 2013 in the cemetery of Independence United Methodist Church, Emporia, VA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Virginia Alzheimer’s Association or Hospice of Virginia, 7231 Forest Ave., Suite 100, Richmond, VA 23226.
