Obituary for Mary Watkins Morgan Little
Mary Watkins Morgan Little passed away on August 2, 2014.   She was born and raised in Emporia, VA to the late John Carter Watkins and Emma Ruth Webb Watkins, and sister to Emma Ruth Pritchard.  Mary is survived by a sister Jean Carter Saunders.  She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt.  She is also survived by daughter Emmy M. Vincent (husband H. Benjamin Vincent, Jr.); granddaughter Lauren Morgan Epps; Mary’s husband Robert Little, and very special nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased in death by husband Frederick A. Morgan.  Her greatest joy in life was her family.  Mary graduated from Longwood University and was a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority.  She was a lifelong, active member of Main St United Methodist Church where she was a member of the choir, Margaret Parker Circle and taught Sunday School.  Her church meant the world to her.  She also took pride in her civic work and was a founding member of what became the Meherrin River Arts Council, member of DAR, Riparian Woman’s Club, Greensville Memorial Hospital Auxillary and Greensville Historical Society.  Although most of her life was spent in Emporia, she lived for over 15 years in Natchez, Miss.  It remained a special place in her heart and was often the subject of stories of fond memories and friends.  Mary was blessed with many special friends, many more like family, because of her talent of making all feel welcome and wanted in her home.  She loved music, was an avid reader and enjoyed cooking and decorating.  She was the ever gracious hostess and a true Southern lady.  Special thanks go to Geraldine Walton who was a much loved, and very comforting caretaker for Mary over the last trying times in her life.  A graveside service will be held Monday, 2 pm, at Emporia Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Alzheimer’s Association or memorials to Main St United Methodist Church in Emporia, VA.  Condolences may be sent to www.Echolsfuneralhome.com
