Obituary for Louise Moore Taylor

Louise Moore Taylor, age 100, entered her heavenly home on May 29, 2023. She was predeceased in death by her husband, Benjamin Taylor and granddaughter Whitney Ferrell. Her greatest love was her family who will cherish her memory. She is survived by her sons, Michael Taylor (Lou Etta), Jerry Taylor, and daughter Bonnie Ferrell (Ronald); grandchildren Ashley Horsley and Dr. Justin Ferrell (Lauren), and great-grandchildren Mickey, Tyler, Zoe, Wednesday, and Griffin.


Louise was blessed to be part of a large family. She was the daughter of the late Fletcher and Donnie Moore and was one of 13 children. Her surviving siblings are brother Warren Moore, sisters Inez Whitlow and Bernice Lewis. Deceased siblings include Fletcher Moore, Jr., Willard Moore, Edward Moore, Gladys Taylor, Alice Blankenship, Effie Lifsey, Margaret Grizzard, Mary Collins, and Ida Woodruff.


Louise spent her working years as a clerk for Bloom Brothers Department Store. She was a faithful life-time member of Zion Baptist Church, Skippers, Virginia. She resided her whole life in Emporia, Virginia until 3 years ago when she moved to Morningside of Bellgrade, Midlothian, Virginia. The family wishes to express their gratitude to her caregivers at the facility.


Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 3, 2023, at 2 pm at Zion Baptist Church, 974 Zion Church Road, Skippers, Virginia 23879 followed by interment at Greensville Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2pm at the church prior to the service. Donations in her honor may be made to Zion Baptist Church, c/o Missy Bullock, 2755 Rolling Acres Rd., Emporia, VA 23847.
