Obituary for Lloyd W Darden
Lloyd W. Darden, Jr. (Sonny) age 89 of Cropwell, Alabama passed away May 1, 2021. He was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine Harrell Darden. Sonny is survived by his sons Kevin and Craig Darden, daughter in law Joanna Darden, grandsons Taylor and Grayson Darden, and sister Justine Finch.
Sonny retired from the telephone industry after 42 years of service in Virginia, Alabama, Tennessee, and Kentucky. He transferred to Kentucky as President of Contel of Kentucky. He also retired as Commander of the Emporia, Virginia, Army National Guard Unit, Battery C, 111th Artillery, after 22 years of service.
He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was full of stories and humor and will be missed by everyone who knew him.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Greensville Volunteer Rescue Squad or Calvary Baptist Church in Emporia, Virginia.
