Katherine Lewis Stanely passed away January 12, 2024. She was born August 31, 1921 to Frederick Ashby Lewis and Sally Lee Lewis of Emporia, Virginia. She is predeceased by her devoted husband, of 56 years, Vernon E. Stanley Sr, sisters, Hattie Ellis Stell, Sara Beth Bass and brother, Ashby Lee Lewis.
Mrs. Stanley was an active member of Main Street Baptist Church. She belonged to W.M.U., Lottie Moon Circle, Young at Heart, G.A. leader, Willingham Group and assisted with many actives as a volunteer.
She worked in the Peanut buying business with Farmer’s Peanut Co. and B.B. Vincent Peanut Co. of Skippers, Va. Mrs. Stanley worked for the Greensville District Court as deputy clerk for many years.
She is survived by her son V. Earl Stanley, Jr (Connie) of Lawrenceville, VA. and her daughter, K. Patricia Stanley of Suffolk, Va., 3 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
During her 102 years she made many friends that she loved and kept in touch. She was a member of the O.E.S. Emporia Chapter #46 and The Women’s Riparian Club.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Echols Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will be held at Main Street Baptist Church on January 16, 2024 at 2:00pm with Dr. Ricky R. Hurst officiating.
