Obituary for John Walter Grizzard
John Walter Grizzard, 89, Army veteran of the Korean War, died January 31, 2017. He was preceded in death by his wife, Fairy Bryant Grizzard; a daughter, Carrie Razel and two brothers, Franklin and Conrad. Survivors include three step-children, Betty Baker of Smithfield, David L. Allen, Jr. and Joan Allen Ligon, both of Emporia; one brother, James Grizzard and a sister, Effie Sue McAlexander; 9 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11am on Sunday, February 26, at Fountain Grove Baptist Church, Emporia. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Fountain Grove Baptist Church, Lifestar Ambulance, or Greensville Volunteer Rescue Squad. Condolences may be sent to www.Echolsfuneralhome.com
