She taught at various schools over the years and eventually became president of Harrell Enterprises, a residential contracting company. She was an active member at Main Street United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir for 45 years. Jean was a faithful volunteer for many years for the United Methodist Women and gave 50 years of service to the Riparian Women’s Club. She served for many years on the Greensville Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
In December of 2016, Jean left Emporia to become part of the Cedarfield community in Richmond where she immediately acclimated to a new lifestyle and continued to be extremely active. She was very outgoing and participated in all that Cedarfield had to offer.
Family played a large role in her life. She was never happier than when she was with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were the light of her life.
