Obituary for Jean Louise Raiford Seely
Jean Raiford Seely peacefully left this world on September 2, 2024. Jean was born September 17, 1929 in Ivor, Virginia to William Frederick and Elma Lowe Raiford.
Jean was predeceased by her parents; three of her four children Trudy, Freddy, and Danny; and a brother, Elton Raiford. She is survived by her sister, Joyce R. Uzzell of Ivor and daughter, Jackie Williams of Morehead City.
Raised in the Corinth community, she was a birthright Quaker, attending Corinth Friends Meeting as long as she was able. She was the oldest member and often remarked that her Sundays were not complete unless she attended meeting at Corinth. Jean attended Corinth Academy and Westtown Boarding School in West Chester, PA.
Jean blessed her friends with works of art in her floral arrangements and decorating. She was also a great cook, often bringing delicious blueberry cobblers, baskets of ham rolls, and her legendary pineapple cherry ice cream to Corinth events.
A memorial service will be held at Corinth Friends Meeting in Ivor on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Amanda Smith presiding.
The family suggests memorial donations be sent to Corinth Friends Meeting, ℅ Royce Branch, 33555 Quaker Road, Ivor VA 23866.
