Obituary for Hilliard Randolph Powell Jr.
Hilliard Randolph Powell, Jr. passed away on August 27, 2019. Randolph was born on December 15, 1938 in Brunswick County, Virginia. Following his service in the United States Air Force, he was employed by the Department of Corrections and retired in 2008 as Warden of Brunswick Correctional Center in Lawrenceville.
Surviving is his wife Mabel, daughters Allison and her husband Scott Andrews, Ashley and her husband Jim Whitehead, two grandchildren, Davis and Lane Whitehead, a brother Tommy Powell and his wife Polly, and a sister Becky Moore and her husband Tommy.
Special appreciation is given to the employees of New Century Hospice for their excellent care. Also, the family thanks his caregivers, Deborah Nicholson and Brad Harding, for their compassion and friendship.
A memorial prayer service will be held at Monumental United Methodist Church, 300 Southampton Street in Emporia on August 31, 2019 at 2:00 P.M.
The family will receive visitors in the Church sanctuary one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Monumental United Methodist Church.
