George Spivey Crowder, Jr. (Billy), age 76, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 28, 2025.
He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who cherished time with his family. Friends and family will remember Billy for his sense of humor, love, and honesty, which he shared with all.
Billy is preceded in death by his father, George Spivey Crowder, Sr.; his mother, Frances Council; his stepfather, Sidney Council; and his sister, Shirley Glenn.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Ruth Crowder; his son, Dwayne (Kathleen); his daughters, Michelle Moseley (Wayne) and Billie Jo Cooke (Scott). His grandchildren are Elijah, Dyson, and Sarah Crowder; Dustin (Liz), Samantha (Joey), and Dalton (Emma) Moseley; Michael Cooke Jr. (Steph); and great-granddaughter, Athena Moseley. He is also survived by his sisters, Dorothy Allen and Phyllis Grizzard; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; many close friends; and his beloved dogs, Peanut and Walnut.
Billy also served his Country and joined the U.S. Army in the year 1969. He earned the rank of Specialist, Grade E4 and received the National Defense Service medal and M14 Marksman.
The family will receive visitors in the Crowder home. A celebration of life is planned for a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Greensville Volunteer Rescue Squad or Jarratt Volunteer Fire Department.
