Genola Marie Leckenby, age 75, passed away March 25, 2015 in Myrtle Beach, SC. She was born in Oahu, HI March 22, 1940, to Fitzhugh Lee and Mary Woodard of Emporia, VA. Genola was deeply invested in her community and gravitated strongly toward helping those in need. Among various philanthropic activities, she spent notable time involving herself with the Special Olympics, nursing home programs, and the Piedmont North Carolina 4H Club. Notably, her involvement with the 4H Club led to her being named director of the “It Takes a Village” program, a program she deeply valued.  She was also a member of the Elks Lodge in Murrells Inlet. Beyond community outreach, Genola was intrigued by Hawaiian culture, thought highly of Princess Diana, and enjoyed sharing her knowledge and experience with loved ones.  Surviving her is her loving husband Colin Leckenby of Myrtle Beach, her children Ernest Marino of Murrells Inlet SC and Sharon Sweatt of Irmo SC, her grandchildren Robert Leonard II and Nichole Leonard, her great granddaugther Jadyn Miguel, her four sisters Eileen Sprengler, Priscilla Goins, Jackie Brna, Marguerite Thomas, her brother Fitzhugh Lee Woodard Jr, her brother-in-law Paul Sprengler, neices, nephews, and numerous friends.
