Obituary for Elizabeth Williams Luke
Elizabeth Williams Luke of Emporia, VA died July 27th at Medical College of Virginia after a brief illness. Daughter of the late Elmer Marks and Mary Sledge Williams, she was born May 21, 1933, a graduate of Louise Obici School of Nursing, she practiced her profession in Franklin, VA and in Emporia, VA with family practitioners until retiring. Betty is survived by her husband, Judge James A. Luke; son, Douglas Daughtrey and his wife Brenda; sisters, Joyce W. Owen and husband Glen and Alice W. Hughes; three nieces, Terry Hughes, Kim Valentine and Vickie Britt and five great-nieces. A faithful member of First Presbyterian Church in Emporia for over fifty years, she had taught Sunday School, active in Presbyterian Women and sang in the choir. A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church, Emporia, VA, July 31st at 11:00 AM. A visitation will be held at 10:30 AM prior to the service.
