Elizabeth “Betty” Keedwell Thrower
Elizabeth Grant Keedwell Thrower, 75, of Emporia, VA. passed away on December 13, 2023. She was preceded in death by her parents, Stuart Grant Keedwell and Lucille Harrell Keedwell, and her sister, Anne Randolph Keedwell.
Betty was born April 5th, 1948, and grew up in Emporia where she attended Greensville High School. She obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Stratford College. She taught at Jarratt Elementary School before moving to Franklin with her husband. They moved back to Emporia later in life.
She adored her mother and father and talked glowingly about family trips, driving across the country to California and traveling all over Europe. She enjoyed music, dancing, poetry, and flowers. She demonstrated her poetry talents with cards and letters at life milestones for her family. Most important to her was her family, but she also loved Elvis and attending Meherrin River Arts Council concerts. She showed much love and provided lessons for those in her life with a heart of gold. She leaves a lasting legacy of love and caring for others and is beloved by her family.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Ronnie Wilson Thrower, sons, Brian Stuart Thrower, Grant Wilson Thrower (Bonnie), grandchildren, Ayden Thrower, Annelee Thrower, sisters, Shirley K. Smith (Tom), Lucille K. Allen (Mickey), Mary K. Small (Jim), Martha Stuart K. Ligon, Nancy K. Ferguson (Gene), along with numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Echols Funeral Home on Thursday, December 21, 2023, from 1:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
A funeral service will immediately follow starting at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Penny Rasnake officiating. Interment to follow at Emporia Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Meherrin River Arts Council or Village View Foundation.
