Obituary for Elizabeth Chaplin Cook
Elizabeth Chaplin Cook, 92, of Emporia died on November 8, 2014 at Bloom Retirement Center.  She was the daughter of Robert Hepton and Fannie Owen Chaplin and a lifelong resident of Greensville County.  She was an active member of Christ Episcopal Church/Anglican Church for many years.  A graduate of James Madison University with a Masters from Longwood University, she taught in the Greensville County Public School System for 26 years and served as an elementary school principal for 10 years before retiring.  She was active in numerous local civic, charitable, and educational organizations, including the Greensville Retired Teachers Association and The Riparian Woman’s Club.  Survivors include her daughter, Ann C. Howard and her husband, Joseph, Jr.; her son, James D. Cook, Jr. and his wife, Gail; her grandsons, Joseph Howard, III and his wife, Nancy, Robert Howard and his wife, Alka and James Cook, III and his wife, B.J.; her granddaughter, Candis Neblett and her husband, Evan; her great-grandchildren, Randy Scott, Taylor Samantha, Connor Lewis and Tessa Ann Howard, and Ethan Christopher Neblett; her sister, Mary Ann C. Lohr; her brother, Edward R. Chaplin and his wife, Julia and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her parents, her sister, Fanny C. Rawles and her brothers, Robert Rogers, John Thomas, Charles Alfred, and William Stanley Chaplin, and a very special nephew, Dr. Robert R. Chaplin, Jr.  Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2014 at 1pm in Echols Funeral Home Chapel, 806 Brunswick Ave, Emporia, VA 23847, followed by a funeral service at 2 pm.  Interment will follow in Emporia Cemetery.  Following the burial a reception will be held at Originals by Randi, 347 Halifax Street, Emporia.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to any of the following, Greensville Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 108, Emporia, Emporia Volunteer Fire Department, 209 Halifax Street, Emporia, Lifestar Ambulance, Inc., 300 North Main Street, Emporia, or a scholarship fund of your choice.  Condolences may be sent to www.Echolsfuneralhome.com 

Visitation, Saturday, November 15, 2014, at 1pm in Echols Funeral Home Chapel.  Funeral Service will follow at 2pm.  Interment in Emporia Cemetery.
