Obituary for Cecelia Horton Allen
Cecelia Horton Allen, 77, passed away on Friday, May 17, 2024. She was born, May 16, 1947 and was the daughter of the late, William Thomas Horton and Ruth Trice Horton. Left to cherish her memory is her beloved husband of almost 54 years, Dennis S. Allen, daughter, Jennifer Melissa Allen, two grandchildren, Cole Allen Whitley and Caiden Isabella Mudd, sister, Carolyn Horton.
Cecelia graduated Grace School of Nursing as a registered nurse and worked for Greensville Health Department. She spent majority of her years at the Greenville County Sheriff’s Department where she was not only an RN there but became a lieutenant to better serve her community. Lastly, retiring from Sussex County schools as their school nurse.
She was a long-time organist/pianist, Youth and choir Director for Calvary Baptist Church as well as a member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority.
Cecelia’s true loves in life were her beloved husband, Dennis, daughter Jennifer, grandchildren Cole and Caiden and nursing and caring for those in her community.
A memorial service will be held at Echols Funeral Home on June 1, 2024, at 2:00 P.M.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Greensville County, in care of the Greensville County Sherriff’s Office. Donations will be for the K-9 Program and Community Intervention Program.
A celebration of life to follow after the service at the Allen home, 700 North York Drive Emporia Va, 23847.
